The King’s University continues to retrofit exterior lighting with LED fixtures. A sample of the work done this summer is replacement of 17 metal halide 150 watt wall packs with Phillips 36.5 watt LED wall packs located around the perimeter of the North Academic Building. With a quick payback of 2.5 years, savings of 75% in electrical consumption and a reduction of 5.9 metric tons of CO2 per annum, it reflects the universities commitment to stewardship of our resources and creation care.
Even though the project is small in size, many such projects are being completed on a year by year basis for the purpose of reducing our carbon footprint. At this point all of the universities exterior lighting is high efficiency LED or equivalent.
