Men Running Sneakers Air Jordan 3 Georgetown Releases Tomorrow
Georgetown serves as the latest inspiration for the Air Jordan 3. And though many would surely prefer the AJ5 PE revealed days ago, Air Jordan 3 Georgetown are the closest we’ll ever get to feeling like a part of the Hoyas. In insignia, the inspiration is not at all overt. The university’s emblem and mascot make no appearance here, not even on the tongue like the aforementioned player’s exclusive. Instead, the pair features traditional Jordan branding, such as Jumpman embroideries and symbols at both the tongue and counter, respectively. The brunt of the homage arrives by way of the coloring: “Midnight Navy” matches the Georgetown signatures quite close, and with the grey cement prints and leather details adjacent, the reference becomes further complete.
Stingwater, the eccentric clothier/skate brand fronted by Daniel Kim, is working on one of the most unique Nike SB Dunk Low collaborations this year thus far. Unveiled by way of insiders, the partnership strikes a solid 50/50 balance between both names. While the Dunk Low may bear its signature look, form, and features, its subtler details are thrust through the Stingwater brand of design. For instance, the Swoosh is near entirely replaced, made miniature to better complement the adjacent alphabet soup that loosely strings together the letters of Kim’s label. Below, somewhat see-through, icy blue soles dress in notable contrast to the upper’s deep reds. And these leathers, though uninterrupted for the most part, accent against white laces, linings, and all-over splatters.
To celebrate the 25th anniversary of the Nike Air Griffey Max 1, Ken Griffey Jr.’s first signature sneaker with 2021Shoes had returned in its original “Freshwater” colorway back in February. The festivities continue as the Swoosh brings back another iconic offering: the “Varsity Royal” arrangement. The very colorway was last released in 2016, when the former Seattle Mariners player was inducted into the Hall of Fame. However, its roots date back to the 2009 return of the silhouette. It consists of a white leather base that is offset by rather aggressive Varsity Royal overlays that wrap around the model, while the sliver of white that’s left is interrupted by a black Swoosh on the toe. Further decorating the bold proposition is a lockdown ankle strap that’s embossed with text reading “NIKE” and features a rubber overlay that reads “24.” Completing the throwback release is an irregularly-shaped white sole unit that echoes ’90s sneaker styles.
